1. Use Cases

Quick Links: Check Available Stock | Hold Problem Stock | Consolidate Fragments

Scenario 1: Check a Product's Available Stock

Situation: A customer asks whether a product has enough stock to ship.

What to do:

  1. Search for the product in the Product List
  2. Click the product name to enter the details page
  3. Click "Inventory"
  4. Check "Available Quantity" in the summary area

Result: The available quantity is the stock that can be shipped (allocated and held quantities already excluded).

Scenario 2: Hold Problem Stock

Situation: A quality issue is found in a certain batch and it must be held to prevent shipping.

What to do:

  1. Go to the product's inventory inquiry page
  2. Switch to the "By Batch" view
  3. Find the problem batch's row and click the "Hold" button in the action column
  4. Enter the hold quantity and reason
  5. Confirm and submit

Result: The held quantity of that inventory increases and the available quantity decreases accordingly; it will not be allocated to new orders.

Scenario 3: Fragmented Shelves Need Consolidation

Situation: A product is scattered across too many shelves and picking is inefficient.

What to do:

  1. Go to the product's inventory inquiry page
  2. Check "Shelf Concentration" on the right side of the summary area
  3. If concentration is low, click the "Fragments" number to see the fragment shelf details
  4. Plan consolidation work based on the details

Result: You know which shelves hold too little stock and can arrange moves to consolidate and improve picking efficiency.

2. Feature Guide

Come here to answer "how much of this product can still ship, and where is it stored". The top of the page shows the quantity overview and shelf concentration; below you can switch between the "By Shelf" view (which shelves hold the product and how many each) and the "By Batch" view (details by batch and expiration date); at the bottom you can also see "In Transit" stock that has not finished putaway.

Quick Jump: Inventory Summary | Shelf Concentration | By Shelf | By Batch | In Transit

2.1 Inventory Summary

The top of the page shows the product's quantity overview:

ValueDescription
Available QuantityQuantity that can be allocated to orders (green)
Allocated QuantityQuantity occupied by orders and waiting for picking (blue)
Held QuantityQuantity on hold and temporarily not shippable (yellow)
QuantityTotal quantity in the warehouse
Pending PutawayQuantity received but still in the staging area, not yet put away (shown only when applicable)

Formula: Available Quantity = Quantity − Allocated Quantity − Held Quantity − Pending Putaway.

2.2 Shelf Concentration

The right side of the summary area shows shelf concentration indicators:

InfoDescription
Shelf ConcentrationCircular progress; higher means stock is more concentrated
Shelves UsedTotal number of storage shelves this product occupies
FragmentsNumber of shelves holding less than 50% of the second-largest shelf in the same batch; click to see details

Concentration colors:

  • Green (≥ 80%): good concentration
  • Yellow (50%–79%): somewhat scattered
  • Red (< 50%): heavily fragmented, consolidation recommended

📌 Note: With too many fragment shelves, pickers must visit several locations to gather the required quantity. Consolidating scattered stock onto one shelf shortens picking routes and frees shelf space.

2.3 By Shelf

3. FAQ

Quick Jump: FAQ | Important Notes

3.1 FAQ

▪ What's the difference between Available Quantity and Quantity?

"Quantity" is the total actually in the warehouse. "Available Quantity" is what can really ship right now, after excluding order-allocated, held, and not-yet-put-away portions.

▪ Can I click the Allocated Quantity?

Yes. In the "By Batch" view, click the "Allocated Quantity" number to jump to the related orders page and see which orders occupy this stock.

▪ Can I click the Held Quantity?

Yes. When "Held Quantity" is greater than 0, click the number to open a popup with the hold details for this inventory record.

▪ What is a fragment shelf?

When a shelf holds less than 50% of the second-largest shelf in the same batch, the system tags it "Fragment". Too many fragments mean stock is too scattered, which lowers picking efficiency.

▪ What concentration is considered normal?

  • 80% or above (green): normal
  • 50%–79% (yellow): on the low side, consider consolidating
  • Below 50% (red): consolidate as soon as possible

▪ What does In Transit mean?

"In Transit" is the quantity on inbounds that have been created but not fully put away. When customers ask about replenishment progress, you can find the ETA and put-away quantity here.
