Steps:

  1. Click "Add filter"
  2. Select "Temperature" → "Refrigerated"
  3. Then select "Inventory Status" → "No Inventory"

Result: The list shows only empty Refrigerated shelves, so you can arrange putaway and keep goods in the correct temperature zone.

Situation: While picking, you find the quantity on the original shelf is not enough and need to know which other shelves hold this product.

Steps:

  1. Click "Add filter"
  2. Select "SKU" and enter the product's SKU
  3. Click a "Shelf Location" in the list to view the inventory on that shelf

Result: The list shows all shelves holding the product, so you can quickly find an alternative picking location.

Case 3: Set up a new rack - create shelves and print barcodes

Situation: A new rack has been installed. You need to create the corresponding shelves and label them with barcodes for scanning.

Steps:

  1. Click "New" in the top-right corner and batch-create shelves by numbering rules (see Batch Create Shelves)
  2. Back on the shelf list, check the newly created shelves
  3. Click "Generate Barcodes"
  4. Choose the label content and output mode (label paper or A4), then click "Generate Barcode PDF"

Result: The generated barcode file can be printed and attached to the racks, so putaway and picking can be done by scanning shelf barcodes.

Case 4: Clean up shelves that are no longer used

Situation: After reorganizing the warehouse, a batch of old shelves has been emptied and is no longer needed.

Steps:

  1. Filter the shelves to delete by "Shelf Location"
  2. Confirm the "Capacity" column shows "-" (no inventory on the shelf)
  3. Check the shelves and click "Batch Delete"
  4. Confirm to submit

Result: Empty shelves are deleted; shelves that still hold inventory are skipped automatically, and the actual deleted/skipped counts are shown afterwards.

2. Features

A shelf is each physical location in the warehouse where goods are stored. Finding an empty shelf for putaway, confirming where a product sits before picking, checking quantities during stock taking — all start here. The shelf list shows every shelf's location code, type, temperature zone and current stock quantity. You can also batch-create shelves and generate shelf barcodes here.

3. FAQ

Quick Jump: FAQ | Notes

3.1 FAQ

▪ How do I create new shelves?

Click "New" in the top-right corner to open the batch creation page, where you can create multiple shelves at once with your own numbering rules; or click "Import" to import shelves from a file.

▪ Can I change a shelf location code?

Yes. Click the Shelf Location to open the detail page. Storage shelves can be edited, including the location code, Shelf Type and Temperature. Staging and Carrier shelves are managed by the system and cannot be edited.

▪ Why can't I delete a shelf?

Only empty Storage shelves can be deleted. If a shelf still holds inventory, move the inventory away first; Staging and Carrier shelves are required by system workflows and cannot be deleted.

▪ What is a Shelf Type? Where is it managed?

Shelf Type categorizes shelves by purpose (e.g. standard rack, pallet rack). Type options are created on the "Shelf Types" settings page and can then be selected when creating shelves.

▪ What does the "Capacity" number mean?

It is the total quantity of goods currently stored on the shelf, updated in real time by putaway, picking and transfer operations. "-" means the shelf is currently empty.

▪ What is a "Role"?

The shelf role distinguishes what a shelf is used for: Storage shelves are the storage locations you plan; Staging and Carrier shelves are locations used by receiving and picking workflows. This separation prevents operational shelves from being deleted or misused by mistake, which would disrupt work in progress.

3.2 Notes

⚠️ Important Reminders

  • Plan ahead: Plan your numbering rules before creating shelves to keep them consistent
  • Temperature zones: Make sure goods are stored on shelves with the correct Temperature to avoid quality issues
  • Deletion restriction: Shelves holding inventory cannot be deleted; transfer the inventory first
  • Regular checks: Check shelf inventory regularly to keep system data accurate
